KCALL Executive Minutes

July 25, 2000

Present were:

Janet McKinney, President
Tranne Pearce, Vice President
Greg McNown, Past President
Susan Duede, Programs Chair
Barbara Fullerton, Technology/Union List Chair
Deanna Long, Board Member
Glenn Higley, Secretary

Meeting was called to order by President McKinney followed by the approval of the minutes of the April 25th KCALL Executive Board meeting.  The Treasurer’s report and the membership directory changes were distributed.

 Programs:

Programs Chair Susan Duede stated that she had been unable to reach Pat O’Connor concerning her presentation on the August 17th general KCALL meeting.  The possibility of using the AALL Spectrum article on “legal research on-line” could be copied and distributed.  It was suggested that a program could be presented on the topic of IT.  Multi-Disciplinary Practices were also suggested as a topic but perhaps not yet pertinent to our group.  It was noted that the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association has opened a new lab and that Kim Rowden is interested in increasing the interest in training for lawyers in this new facility.

 Technology/Union List:

Chair Barbara Fullerton discussed the KCALL website expressing concerns about outdated links and information.  She suggested that the website be given a new look.  Discussion followed as to whether or not we needed links other than to a site such as findlaw.com and as to whether the site should be an on-line brochure and/or a tool for KCALL members.  It was noted that the meeting minutes and “What’s New” portions of the site had not been recently updated.  It was recommended that a deadline be distributed by email  for any additions or changes to the website.  It was also recommended that the membership directory be placed on the general information page of the website.
