KCALL Member Minutes
August 17, 2000
The meeting was called to order by President McKinney. The minutes of the May 18th meeting were approved. It was stated that a nominating committee was being formed. New attendees were introduced.
Treasurer’s Report:
Linda Roser distributed the treasurer’s report (attached to origional). The current balance is $1471.05.
Programs:
Susan Duede stated that meetings will be held on the third Thursday of the month. Our next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 19th at Morrison Hecker - Joyce Sikel will be speaking. It was mentioned that no place or time has been determined for the KCALL holiday party. MALL 2000 is still being set up. Further information is expected shortly.
Technology/Union List:
Nancy Stancel stated that website is being updated. There is a comments section on the site for email of suggestions to the committee. The membership list is now available online but is not currently password protected. Password protection will be installed and the password will be distributed by President McKinney.
Mike McReynolds is currently working on the Union List.
New bylaws will be placed on the website soon.
A question about the placement of vendor information on the Member news section was raised. The KCALL executive board feels this is inappropriate. Links to vendors in another area of the site will be created.
New Business:
It was suggested that we look into utilizing neutral meeting places for KCALL. Suggestions included: restaurants and the Plaza public library. A report is to be presented at the next meeting.
MLA will be meeting at the Elms. Tranne Pearce will be hosting a MLA program on reference for Pro Se titled “No Lawyer, No Problem” on October 3rd. KCALL members are welcome to attend by contacting Tranne.
Larry MacLachlan of UMKC is creating a link list on the law libraries website. Please email any reference links to him at maclachlanl@umkc.edu. This list is an experiment at present. Larry will notify KCALL when it is up for the public.
President McKinney adjourned the meeting, which was followed by a presentation by Pat O’Connor on the subject of Law and Literature.
